Sometime in September, two things are happening in Fallout 76. The first is the release of Fallout Worlds which is set to offer players new ways to play the game. The second is the official end of the Nuclear Winter mode.
The question likely asked by some players is what’s going to happen to the rewards they’ve earned from playing that mode. Today, we have an answer to that.
Exchange for Perk Coins
Once Nuclear Winter Mode ends, players can get rewards like the special Nuclear Winter-themed pennant. This is given to those who finished at least one match in Nuclear Winter. On the day that the mode is removed, all players who participated in Nuclear Winter receive Perk Coins based on their Nuclear Winter progress. For every Nuclear Winter Perk Card earned, players get six Perk Coins. The amount of Perk Coins received this way, however, is capped at 600. In addition, players earn one Perk Coin per Overseer Ticket obtained, for a maximum of 200.
Available in Other Events
One of the things that Nuclear Winter had compared to other modes is the cosmetic rewards that could be earned. These were generally earned by going through the Overseer Ranks. According to the team, most of these items will be placed into the reward pool for some in-game events. This way, players still have a chance to get them.
Some of the events where players can earn these cosmetics include:
- A Colossal Problem
- Encryptid
- Project Paradise
- Scorched Earth
- Limited-Time Events
- Festive Scorched
- Treasure Hunter
No Longer Available
Some items won’t be available once Nuclear Winter is no longer accessible, and these are:
- Bronze Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Silver Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Gold Nuclear Winter Trophy
- Bronze Nuclear Winter Statue
- Copper Nuclear Winter Statue
- Marble Nuclear Winter Statue
According to a post, this was done to make sure that it remained with players who got them by playing the Nuclear Winter mode.
Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
