In a collaboration between Square Enix and Digic Pictures, the team behind Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a new Final Fantasy XV trailer titled “Omen” has just been released. The word “trailer” scarcely seems to do the atmospheric new trailer justice: some outlets have been calling the piece a short film. Check out the Final Fantasy XV “Omen” trailer below:

The trailer features Noctis continuously losing more of his shirt, lots of surreal dipping through fractured worlds, Luna trying to fight off someone who may be Noctis, and a fluffy white dog that turns into something way less cute by the end. Watch the trailer, save a puppy.

The “Omen” trailer is less focused on giving us plot details than feeding us tantalizing snippets of plot than on giving us the game’s feel: modern, grim, supernatural, epic stakes, a prince with a destiny falling through time, mystically linked to a mysteriously magical woman whom he saves or damns or something… I’m not sure what to take from it except more hype. At least it’s not a ninety second hug.

As the Final Fantasy XV hype train builds and builds, do you find yourself expecting more and more? For more on Final Fantasy XV , check out the following hands-on impression pieces:

  • Final Fantasy XV is full of more content than you can shake a stick at

  • The plot of Final Fantasy XV appears to be grounded and make sense, an amazing achievement for any Final Fantasy game

  • Combat in Final Fantasy XV is okay, but those camera angles though

REVIEW SUMMARY
Final Fantasy XV
8.5
Combat, Plot, Characters Create Something Flawed, Beautiful, Fantastic
Despite it's flaws, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
  • Engaging main cast of characters
  • Fun, fast-paced combat
  • A massive, beautiful world to explore
  • The Regalia!
  • Continuous updates have addressed some shortcomings of the initial release
  • Major aspects of the story feel rushed or absent, particularly toward the end of the game
  • Stealth sequences feel out of place
