The first announcement from the Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct was the reveal of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
This title is inspired by the second Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem Gaiden which only released in Japan in 1992. Echoes reimagines Gaiden on a larger scale and acts as a remake of that classic game.
Players outside of Japan will get to play this game for the first time and play as both protagonists, Alm and Celica.
Every aspect of the Fire Emblem Gaiden game’s presentation has been updated, along with the game being fully voiced. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia recreates classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a modern twist, mixing in exploration of dungeons crawling with enemies.
The Nintendo Direct announcement revealed that the developers have built the game from the ground up so it’s not just a port of the classic game but a full-fledged reimagination.
Everything that made Gaiden unique like flexible character progression returns.
Amiibo fans will be delighted to know that there will be two new amiibo released. Alm and Celica will be receiving their own amiibo in conjunction with the release of Shadows of Valentia in a special two-pack.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and the new amiibo will release for the Nintendo 3DS on May 19.
