When Jesse arrived through the breach from Earth-2 in The Flash Season 3 episode 3, “Magenta,” Wally was super bummed he didn’t become a speedster too. He and Jesse both got hit with the same dark matter from the particle accelerator explosion that gave Barry his powers at the end of Season 2. It took a couple months, but Jesse slowly transformed into a metahuman after she traveled back to Earth 2.

Jesse explains that one day a car ran a red light and almost hit her. On the brink of death, she realized everything around her was frozen. She instinctively ran out of the way as time passed by slowly around her. Harrison Wells tells Wally it can take an indeterminate amount of time before metahuman transformation occurs and he’s still hopeful, even after Joe’s dad cop speech.

He tries to ‘jumpstart’ his own powers by walking in front of traffic, but Jesse saved him before he was in any real danger. Joe urges Wally he can still help people if he continues to study engineering. Unbeknownst to Joe, that’s exactly how he gets his powers in the Flashpoint timeline. He was messing around with a new formula to make his car go faster to win a race. One night, his car was struck by lightning. After 9 months, he woke from coma as The Flash.

Whether Wally’s fate is to gain powers from the dark matter from the particle accelerator like Jesse or because of racing cars, there may be a faster way for Wally to become Kid Flash: Dr. Alchemy. The mysterious villain could reach out to Kid Flash like he did Edward Clariss and Magenta – by way of nightmares depicting their lives in the Flashpoint timeline. In fact, he may have already done so. Wally was acting super weird when Magenta came to Star Labs and revealed how she got telekinetic powers, almost like he’s been having the same visions she did.

But since Wally was willing to kill himself to find out whether he is a speedster, we can’t rule out the option he’ll reach out to Alchemy himself. However, considering Dr. Alchemy seeks to restore the powers people had in Flashpoint, it seems more likely it would be Alchemy’s doing. Barry has been messing with Alchemy’s agenda and luring in Kid Flash certainly sounds like something an evil magic man would do for revenge.

Do you think Wally will become Kid Flash again? Let us know how in the comments below! The Flas h airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
