The latest Xbox game to come to PlayStation 5 consoles is "Forza Horizon 5," which will arrive on Sony's platform sometime this spring.
Developer Playground Games' surprise announcement makes the racing game the latest in a series of titles to make the transition, including "Sea of Thieves" and "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle."
Forza Horizon 5 Coming to PlayStation 5
It was also noted that the PlayStation 5 version of "Forza Horizon 5" was made by Panic Button in partnership with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games. It is said to feature the same content as the Xbox and PC versions of the game.
Additionally, Car Packs, as well as the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions, will be included in the PlayStation 5 version of "Forza Horizon 5."
The decision to make the transition was made as there is growing interest from Xbox in releasing more of its titles on non-Xbox platforms.
These include both the PlayStation consoles and the Nintendo Switch handheld. Xbox head Phil Spencer also confirmed that it was the company's intention to support the Nintendo Switch 2 when it officially comes out, according to IGN.
In the latest investor call, Microsoft noted that "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" was able to reach 4 million players. The company also noted that Game Pass on PC has grown by 30%, increasing service revenue by 2%.
Brand New Content
However, it was noted that overall gaming revenue dropped, with console sales going down by nearly 30%. This could probably be the reason that incentivizes Xbox to prioritize Game Pass and work on having more games on other platforms to drive revenue.
On top of the features and content that were said to be included in the PlayStation 5 version of "Forza Horizon 5," it would also have cross-play support.
This means that players who prefer to race on specific platforms can still play with other people on others, Game Spot said.
The entirety of the game's content currently has almost 900 cars, 40 themed updates, and two full expansions, which are all coming to the PlayStation 5 version. There is also a new update that will be coming alongside the new version that is known as "Horizon Worlds."
The new content will allow players to explore a "curated collection" of some of the community's most beloved Evolving Worlds and other surprises. The development comes as "Forza Horizon 5" was originally released on Xbox and PC in 2021, according to The Verge.
