HoYoverse announced that the newest update for Genshin Impact is launching on January 31. Titled as "Vibrant Harriers Aloft in Spring Breeze," Version 4.4 expands the world further northwest with the addition of a new region known as Chenyu Vale.
This new region is the latest expansion of the Liyue area. Chenyu Vale is a beautiful and mist-shrouded area having majestic hills, cascading waterfalls, flourishing villages, and even mysterious tales of the adepti. Qiaoying Village in particular is known for the tea cultivation methods said to be imparted to them by the adepti. Meanwhile further west lies Yilong Wharf, which is a key trading nexus that connects Fontaine with Liyue. One interesting feature of the wharf is the remarkable elevator that's powered by the force of water.
The majority of Chenyu Vale though lies off the beaten track. With the blessing of the adepti, players get to transform into a special carp. This lets them soar into the sky and reach those previously inaccessible areas. During their journey, players also encounter legendary beasts which roam the valley. One of the most formidable and mysterious of them is known as the "Solitary Suanni" and appear as a boss enemy.
The new update also introduces two new technical features to better represent Chenyu Vale with a touch of shan shui style. The Global Far Fog (GFF) for example lets mist and clouds change their density and direction along mountains by factoring in altitude, terrain, and other conditions. Players can also look forward to the Gradient Tint Rock. This feature tints mountains cyan, green or tan depending on the height, visibility distance, textural characteristics of the rocks, and the structure of each mountain.
In addition to a new region, the upcoming update also launches this year's Lantern Festival and introduces a new playable character.
