Google will host a major product showcase Oct. 4, where several devices and systems are expected to be revealed. The San Francisco event begins at 9 a.m. PDT (12 p.m. EDT). There will also be a live stream available.
Many details about the announcements expected at Google’s event have already leaked to the public.
Pixel Phones
Google is expected to announce a new brand of smartphones under the name Pixel. The HTC-made devices will be called the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. They are expected to feature high-end specs and compatibility with features such as Google Assistant and Google Daydream. A recent leak revealed press renders of the smartphones prior to launch. The smartphones are also expected to run Android 7.1 Nougat, which may not be a pure Android experience as seen on the Google Nexus line. The system is will likely include a new launcher called Pixel launcher, for which details currently remain unknown.
Chromecast Ultra
Google is also expected to announce a new streaming dongle called Chromecast Ultra. The device is will likely support 4K and HDR photos and videos. Reports indicate it will sell for $69, more than double the price of current Chromecast dongles.
Google Wifi
Google is expected to announce it’s own Wi-Fi router, which is supposed to connect to several points throughout a home for consistent service. It will compete with similar services like Eero and Luma. The router will likely sell for $129.
Google Home
Google is expected to formally announce its artificial intelligence assistant, Google Home, which was originally showcased at Google I/O in May. The device acts as a hub for various automated functions within a home, including functioning as a music and entertainment system, a task manager and a search engine. Reports indicate it will sell for about $129.
Daydream VR
Google is expected to formally announce it’s Daydream VR platform , which was also originally showcased at Google I/O. Daydream is expected to be a unifying platform, under which all high-end Android-based virtual reality devices will run. Google will likely reveal its own accompanying hardware at its event Tuesday.
Google Tablet
Rumors suggest Google may announce a 7-inch tablet built by Huawei . Not much else is known about the device, but it is expected to feature 4GB of RAM.
Andromeda
Rumors also suggest Google may announce a new operating system, codenamed Andromeda , which will implement Android apps into Chrome OS.
The software may accompany a new laptop, likely called Pixel 3 , which may feature a convertible design with a 12.3-inch screen, an Intel m3 or i5 Core processor, 8GB or 16GB of RAM and 32GB or 128GB of internal storage and a breadth of 10mm. The laptop isn’t expected to release until 2017.
