Warner Bros' upcoming game Gotham Knights worried the fanbase. First, the game is set after the events that transpired in Batman: Arkham Knight, so there's no Batman in the game. Though, Gotham Knights is not part of the Arkham universe . Second, players are troubled as the game includes online and co-op elements. Naturally, fans suspected that the game would need an internet connection all the time.
However, Gotham Knights' senior producer Fleur Marty said that the game is playable on solo. It also doesn't require an internet connection. This is great news for fans who wanted to enjoy the game solo. Nowadays, gamers have a hard time finding titles that deliver a true single-player experience. Marty added that when playing offline, players will not miss out on any content. Their progress will not be affected in any way as well. Still, Marty emphasized that the game is designed for co-op gameplay. He believes that co-op will deliver a great gaming experience. But it's up to the players if they want to enjoy the game in co-op or single-player mode.
If you are worried that Gotham Knights would turn out like Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, this isn't going to be the case. Gotham Knights is playable like the previous Batman Arkham games. You can go off by yourself. The only difference this time is you'll be playing other characters from the Bat-family. So, don't expect to play as the caped crusader himself.
Gotham Knights received a gameplay walkthrough in August this year. The footage showed the open-world setting of Gotham. The same video highlighted stealth mechanics, combat, map traversal, and co-op elements. Fans also got to see Mr. Freeze making a return, who is faced by Robin and Batgirl.
Gotham Knights is set to launch in 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
