In a recent earnings presentation, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick reassured fans that "Grand Theft Auto 6" will be hitting shelves this fall. While acknowledging the risk of delays, Zelnick expressed strong confidence that the release will proceed as planned.

"We feel really good about it," he told IGN, addressing concerns that rumors about a possible 2026 release date may have caused some unease among players.

Zelnick's comments come as a relief to fans who have been waiting over a decade for the next installment in the GTA series. For reference to those who are new to the GTA franchise, the last installment, "GTA 5" was released in 2013.

Although he warned against prematurely declaring the release as final, his confidence is strong proof that Rockstar Games is in the final stages of development and is preparing for a major fall launch.

Rumors and Leaks: What We Know About 'GTA VI'

While "GTA 6" was a long-rumored project for years after the success of "Grand Theft Auto V" 12 years ago, it wasn't until 2022 that Rockstar Games confirmed the game's development.

CNET reports that this followed a wave of leaks revealing key details about the game's setting and characters. The most notable leak included information about the game's new protagonists, a criminal duo, with the female character, Lucia, being the only one officially confirmed.

The setting for "GTA 6" will take players to a fictional version of Florida called Leonida, which includes the iconic Vice City.

This return to a beloved location from previous GTA games has further triggered anticipation. Players could soon explore the vibrant streets of Leonida and enjoy an open-world experience like no other.

Back in July 2024, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that the "GTA VI" was expected to be available by 2025. It turns out that he was right all along.

Release Platforms Where You Can Play 'GTA VI'

'Grand Theft Auto VI' will be available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The jump to current-gen consoles also means that 'GTA VI' will take full advantage of improved performance, faster load times, and enhanced visuals, making for a truly next-generation experience.

Although the game will not be available on older consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One, it's still playable on PC in case you do not prefer playing it on consoles.
