Version 1.0 of the rogue-lite RPG The Hand of Merlin is officially launching this June 14. It’s going to be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
The game offers a combination of sci-fi horror and Arthurian legend. The story is written by Jonas Kyratzes (The Talos Principle, Serious Sam 4) and Verena Kyratzes (The Lands of Dream, Serious Sam 4). The story is set in a medieval period where the world is now on the brink of an apocalypse due to an otherworldly evil. Players get to recruit three mortal heroes and travel from Albion to Jerusalem.
In a statement, Room C Games Creative Director Robert Sajko shared that they are excited to reveal the multi-platform release of the game. He added that players can look forward to enjoying sci-fi mixed with traditional Arthurian legend.
Gameplay
The game uses squad-based and turn-based combat. Strategy is key and players need to come up with tactics like using cover, setting up ambushes, and coordinating attacks. It’s not all fights since there’s also a large focus on exploration. Decisions are important and that means for each world saved, it’s saved forever. However, worlds that are lost are lost for eternity.
Console Version
For the console version, players not only enjoy the base game but also the eight major updates available on PC. There are also several new features and game improvements to expect, such as alternate maps, meta progression, passive skills, and varied difficulty modes. There’s an overhaul of the game’s VFX as well.
PC Version
The PC version is on Steam available in Standard and Deluxe editions. The latter includes the official soundtrack. The system requirements are:
