'Hollow Knight Silksong' Update: New SteamDB Changes Hint at 2025 Release, But Fans Are Growing Hopeless

Will "Hollow Knight Silksong" appear in Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

"Hollow Knight Silksong" fans have been starving for new updates for the past four years. Since the Metroidvania game's launch in 2019, players did not hear anything until 2022 came. However, only a few updates were rolled out even then.

Fortunately, the new SteamDB profile will not disappoint players this time, but still, it does not mean that new updates will come sooner.

SteamDB Metadata Update Sparks New Speculation

Team Cherry/Steam

The latest change to Hollow Knight Silksong's SteamDB page carried out on March 24, has brought hope back to the Silksong community. The update adds an opt-in feature for the Nvidia GeForce Now service, which indicates that the game could be released on cloud gaming services shortly.

More importantly, the most noticeable information from the SteamDB page is the change of copyright date on the store page fine print from 2019 to 2025. This is a possible sign that the game could finally be entering its release window.

What Does This Imply for 'Silksong's' Release?

An updated copyright date does not always guarantee a release date, but it usually indicates that the developers, Team Cherry, are indeed working on the game and potentially gearing up for release, according to GameSpot.

The addition of Nvidia GeForce Now compatibility also implies wider accessibility for players, enabling them to play the game on different devices without the need for expensive hardware.

Fans Starved for 'Hollow Knight Silksong' News

"Silksong" gamers have been patiently waiting for any hint of movement since its original announcement. The title was initially announced as a DLC expansion for "Hollow Knight" before taking the form of a standalone sequel as a result of the project's ambitious nature.

Ever since the reveal at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase in 2022, Team Cherry's silence has seen fans clamoring for news.

While some fans are hopeless that this won't come to fruition, some think that making it as an indie title for Nintendo Switch will make a big difference for the community.

"Coming soon to the switch 2," one user wrote.

"I loved Hollow Knight and have been really looking forward to Silksong. I appreciate that games are complicated and people who aren't in the industry are quick to say games should only take a few years to make but still; what on earth has happened to make the development take so long? It's nuts. It was announced 6 years ago..." another user commented.
