Blizzard’s previously announced free weekend for Overwatch begins today at 2 p.m. EST in all gameplay regions. Those wanting to try out Overwatch for free on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can check out the global free weekend schedule to see what time they can start playing Overwatch below:
Here’s Blizzard’s official instructions for how to download and play Overwatch for free on all three platforms:
FOR WINDOWS PC:
- Step 1: Download and install the Battle.net desktop app, if you haven't already, and launch it.
- Step 2: Create a FREE Battle.net account, or log in with an existing account.
- Step 3: Click the "Overwatch" icon, located on the left-hand side of the Battle.net desktop app.
- Step 4: Select your region from the drop-down menu, then click "Install" to begin the installation process.

- Step 5: Once the download and installation process is complete, click "Launch" to begin!
All heroes, including our newest hero Sombra, will be available for prospective new Overwatch players to enjoy, as well as all maps. Modes that will be included in the free Overwatch weekend include Quick Play, Custom Games, and the latest Weekly Brawl, but exclude Competitive Mode. Players can level up and earn Loot Boxes as usual as well as “unlock a variety of different customization options,” such as skins and sprays.
Most importantly: any progress made during the free weekend will carry over if you decide to purchase Overwatch , as long as you use the same Battle.net, Xbox Live or Sony Entertainment account that you played on during the weekend.) You lose nothing but gain everything… if you can call your free time, sanity and patience “nothing.”
Oh, and if you choose to buy Overwatch after this weekend, be aware that the Black Friday price is already available on Amazon. That’s $34.99 for a $60 game. Nice.
Overwatch is 12 GB, so make sure you have space on your platform of choice. You’ll also need either an Xbox Live Gold Membership, a PS Plus Membership, or a Battle.net account depending how you’re playing. Enjoy the free weekend and bon apetit!
