Immortals Fenyx Rising is releasing a demo to give some players a chance to experience the upcoming action-adventure game from Ubisoft. We say some because it’s going to be exclusive for the Google Stadia. If you do have a Stadia, the demo is available beginning today October 23, and is around until October 29.
For this particular demo, players are sent on a quest to learn more about the mysterious Secret of the Cyclops after Zeus wrests the narration away from Prometheus. The mission is set on a new archipelago that is inspired by Aphrodite and is going to feature an exciting combination of exploration, puzzles, and combat. Ubisoft hopes that this should be enough to excite players to go for the full game experience.
Players that manage to complete the demo get to unlock the Stadium Armor Set reward, which includes a unique helmet and armor. Immortals is played through a third-person perspective, so players get to customize the gender, appearance, and even voice, of their characters. For many gamers who’ve seen what’s been revealed so far, Immortals looks like a combination of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Talking abou Immortals Fenyx Rising, Game Director Scott Phillips revealed that the game itself resulted from a bug discovered on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. You can learn more about that story here.
Immortals offers an open world composed of seven unique regions, all inspired by the Greek Gods. It follows the story of a Greek soldier name Fenyx who has become stranded on the Golden Isle. Players then need to rescue the Greek Gods from Typhon. This titan is seeking revenge after being banished to Tartaros by Zeus and the other gods.
In fighting against enemies, players have two types of melee attacks. Swords are generally used for light attacks that are fast, but rather weak. Meanwhile, a hammer can perform heavy attacks which are slow, but strong. Players can also use ranged attacks through bows and arrows. There is an additional interesting feature where if Fenyx attacks successively, the character becomes exhausted. It’s important to manage stamina when in combat.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is set to be released on December 3 for the Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, and Nintendo Switch. Ubisoft has confirmed that those who have Immortals on PS4 or Xbox One can get a free next-gen upgrade for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
