We're a little more than a month away from the highly anticipated Apple announcement for the next-generation iPhone and leaks and rumors are near a fever pitch, if not there already. The latest report is from Chinese website Weibo, which shared the first alleged images of a functioning iPhone 7.
While it's difficult to determine its authenticity, the leaked iPhone 7 images have since been shared on French site NWE as well as MacRumors. The photos show an assembled and powered iPhone 7 features a screen running on SwitchBoard, Apple's internal testing software. In the back, the iPhone 7 features a clean antenna design that wraps around the upper and lower edge of the iPhone. A slightly larger rear-facing camera can be seen on the back as well. Finally, an image of the bottom of the iPhone shows dual speakers in place of the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Apple is slated to announce its next iPhone on the second week of September, according to Apple analyst Evan Blass. What's more, Blass also tweeted in June that the 2016 Apple iPhone most likely won't be called the iPhone 7.
Firstly, the upcoming iPhone does not promise the same level of innovative features and technology to warrant a number bump. What's more, the 10-year anniversary of the Apple iPhone lands on 2017 and speculators believe Apple would prefer to give its iPhone moniker a round number next year.
Stay tuned for more in the weeks ahead.
