Justice Smith, star of Netflix’s showstopping project The Get Down, will be part of the cast for Jurassic World 2. Smith joins stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the Jurassic World sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
Details about the plot of Jurassic World 2 are being kept tightly under wraps. While Pratt and Howard are reprising their roles from the first movie, little is known about what Smith’s role might be.
According to Jurassic World director and Jurassic World 2 co-writer Colin Trevorrow, we might be seeing some open-source dinosaur action in the new movie:
“This isn’t always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponize it and later on we found it could be used for energy. And this isn’t something necessarily that was in the book but it is a seed I wanted to plant in this movie, is that it might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them, is: What if this went open source?”
Smith played the lead role of Ezekiel in The Get Down , one of Netflix’s best and most underrated original shows. He also appeared in Paper Towns , the Fox 2000 adaptation of John Green’s YA novel starring Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne. Smith is scheduled to star opposite Lucas Hedges in off-Broadway play Yen , opening Jan. 30.
In previous Jurassic World 2 cast news, Toby Jones and Rafe Spall have been cast in Jurassic World 2 in unknown roles according to Variety. Jake Johnson’s comic relief character Lowery Cruthers will not be returning.
