Captain Cold, aka Leonard Snart, seems to be the only character we have yet to see on Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Arrow or Supergirl . While he made an appearance via Mick’s hallucinations, we haven’t seen him alive and well running with the Legion of Doom quite yet. The Waverider crew still believes Wentworth Miller’s beloved character is dead. But we fans already know, that’s not going to last for long.
Miller caught up with Entertainment Weekly to discuss his character’s return and assured fans that his character is going back to being a “straight up villain,”
“My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he’s a straight up villain. He hasn’t gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again — quote unquote alive in 2017 — I imagine that he’s going to be much like when we first met him the first season on The Flash, which I’m looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place.”
Last season saw Mick as the evil-inclined partner, while Snart was more willing to become a hero. Now, the roles are reversed. Miller will portray a character that better resembles the smooth-talking, heartless thief we met early on in The Flash. When asked how Snart will handle the change in dynamic, especially seeing Mick as a hero, Miller said he thinks his character will be disappointed.
“I also think some of that disappointment would stem from being triggered by watching his former buddy, a hard criminal, show a softer, more heroic side, because that might mean to Snart that he, too, is capable of showing a softer, more heroic side. I’m looking forward to their interaction for sure.”
Last season, Snart sacrificed himself for the team and shared a passionate near-death kiss with White Canary. Miller said he’s looking forward to continuing that arc.
“I’m also looking forward very much to whatever the writers have in store as far as Snart and White Canary,” Miller told EW . “There was a kiss, remembered by White Canary, but not Snart.”
As for his upcoming partnership with the Legion of Doom, Miller said Snart has never been fond of authority, and he certainly won’t change now.
“What I can tell you is that Snart is not used to taking orders,” Miller says. “He’s not a team player. That was certainly his story the first season on Legends , so I expect fireworks.”
Legends of Tomorrow returns Jan. 24 after The Flash on The CW.
