Year 2 of LEGO Dimensions is nearly here and with it comes a whole bunch of new characters to collect and play as in the open world of LEGO Dimensions. The E3 2016 trailer showed off a lot of the new characters, including those from the upcoming Ghostbusters film and the Harry Potter franchise.
But it’s not until you get your hands on the game that you can really appreciate how each character handles differently. We spoke with LEGO Dimension director James McLaughlin about the expansions and what fans can expect when the game comes out this September.
He told us players can expect more detailed movesets than what was demoed on the E3 showfloor for a lot of the characters, including some cool additions to Gizmo (from Gremlins) that will be coming.
McLaughlin also teased how Sonic will play once the game comes out this fall, including his signature speed and his roll up attacks. The entire interview with LEGODimensions’ director will be up shortly, so stay tuned.
However, we also got to experience and see what some of the upcoming story missions will be like.
The Mission: Impossible missions were fun: you use Ethan Hunt and destroy block furniture to create the face-changing device used in the movies. The entire scene is pure LEGO goodness as you switch your face with a waiter and once the waiter finds you, he faints.
Over on one of the Ghostbusters' missions, we see a cutscene from the movie with audio from the upcoming film, then enter a multidimensional room where you take control of each Ghostbuster to do different things across dimensions.
