Good news to fans of Let’s Play Curling!! with its physical copies now available for Nintendo Switch. What makes this announcement even better is that the game is supported by the Canadian Curling Association.
For those of you wondering what the game is all about, it simulates curling to highlight the exciting nature of this major winter sport. For those familiar with the game, curling is often referred to as "chess on ice" mainly because of the amount of strategy involved. For the video game itself, players get to experience immersive gameplay where it feels as though they're in an actual match. For example, by simply shaking the Joy-Con controllers, players get the pseudo-experience of sweeping the ice with a curling broom.
Also approved by the Japan Curling Association, the game’s movements and momentum of the stone have been rendered realistically. This title is sure to be fun whether you're new to curling or an expert.
Different Modes
The game offers different modes of play where players take turns applying the same rules as an actual curling match. They're challenged to come up with the most effective strategy and tactics. Modes to choose from include:
- World Championship
- Players select a country and take part in a tournament against the best players in the world.
- The goal is to become number one.
- VS Curling
- Players get to enjoy playing against each other in two teams of up to four members each.
- Do it with friends or against the computer.
To make sure that the needs of each player are met, all modes allow the number of ends to be changed. They can choose one of these operating modes:
- Full Mode
- Players control all the team members.
- Skip Mode
- Players take on the position called "Skip.”
Take on a Mission
The game also has Mission Curling where players take on various challenges like "Score two or more points with one throw" or "Remove all three of your competitor’s stones from the House."
This is also a good way to experience the thrill present in a real curling match especially with the use of the trial-and-error tactics. After all, it is important to change strategies based on the situation. Because of that, it's possible to come back from losing and get a victory in the final throw.
The difficulty levels of the missions range from Beginner to Advanced. At Advanced level, players can experience the adrenaline of an elite making a super shot.
Other Games
It's not all curling since there are various games available like "Tic-Tac-Toe" where players try to get three stones in a row. Another is "Penguin Pool" where players drop stones with cute penguins on them into the water and compete for a high score.
While the rules are different from standard curling, these games make sure that proficiency in timing and angling the shot is necessary for success.
What are you waiting for? Game on!
