The LG G6 may feature a feature a large display and a super thin bezel, according to the launch event invites LG sent to members of the press Monday evening. The manufacturer will announce the smartphone Feb. 26 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, having confirmed the name of the device LG G6.
The teaser reads, “big screen, that fits,” which suggests the device may have a thin bezel or no bezel at all.
Expanding screen real estate appears to be a theme among manufacturers in 2017. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is also expected to have a no-bezel display and several leaks and renders have alluded to this feature. However, that device isn’t expected to be unveiled until late March, and may not release until late April.
Recent reports suggest the LG G6 may release April 7 in the U.S., after being made available to South Korean consumers March 9. If true, the device would be one of the first 2017 flagships on the market.
Rumored specs include a 5.7-inch QHD display with a 18:9, aspect ratio, which could hint to its bezel free or full-screen design, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip, water resistance and software support including Google Assistant and Google Daydream. The LG G6 is also expected to feature a metal, unibody frame and an non-removable battery, shying away from the modular design seen on the LG G5.
