Wolverine, Professor X, and X-23 are the main characters in Logan, but at the end of the film, we meet a group of young mutants. Wolverine helps them flee across the border to Canada to a safe place they call Eden. One of them actually saves Wolverine’s life multiple times, though he ends up sacrificing himself to save theirs in the end.
You may remember X-23 shouting at Wolverine in Spanish about taking her to Eden. She mentions the names of some of her friends, fellow experimentees -- Rictor, Gedeon, Bobby, Rebecca, Delilah, Joey, Charlotte and a few more we missed on first viewing. So who are these mutants? Some names fans will recognize from the comics, some were created using previous X-Men’s DNA, and some of these children don’t have any comic book or X-Men connections at all. Here’s what we know.
The standout name in that list is Julio Rictor, played by Jason Genao. He is the leader of the young group of mutants hiding out from Donald Pierce after Gabriella and other staff members helped them escape. Rictor’s seismic powers are the same in Logan, but his backstory is much different. In the comics, he was born to human parents and appeared in X-Force, X-Factor and New Mutants. In Logan , the files X-23 had from Alkali Transigen lab reveal Rictor’s DNA comes from a mutant named Dominic Petros, aka Avalanche, a villain who has the same geological vibration powers.
Another familiar name we definitely saw in those Transigen lab files was Christopher Bradley, who we met in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Like one of the mutants we saw in Logan , Bradley has electric powers and goes by Bolt or Maverick.
There were many more children in that final scene, but we didn’t get to know all their names or see the entire Transigen file. Gideon is an X-Force villain in the comics. He can replicate the powers of other mutants. The video from the Gabriella’s phone also showed a child moving bricks in a wall, which could mean one of them is a telekinetic. In the scene where all the children gang up on and kill Donald Pierce, there’s one kid with the ability to control plants, a power we’ve seen before at the X-Mansion. There was also a child with ice breath and touch named Bobby. His DNA could be from Bobby Drake, aka Iceman. We also saw a child with fire powers -- could his DNA from Pyro? And then there’s Lizard Boy.
Once we can get our hands on that Transigen Lab file, we can start connecting the dots. But for now, that’s all we know. Did you spot anything we didn’t? Let us know in the comments.
