Characters from Fantastic Four will be removed from the super-powered MMO Marvel Heroes starting on July 1. This news comes from a post on the Marvel Heroes forums made by a Gazillion employee. The post can be found here, but is locked behind a sign-in page.
These characters will be available to buy with Eternity Splinters up until 5 p.m. EDT today, June 28. The full list of characters that will no longer be available to purchased includes the following:
Mr. Fantastic
Invisible Woman
Thing
Human Torch
Silver Surfer
Although he is also a Fantastic Four character, Doctor Doom will remain as a playable villain and will maintain his role in the Marvel Heroes storyline.
The post mentions a new licensing agreement which stipulates that the rights to continue selling the characters have been removed. Players who own the characters already will not be losing them, and Gazillion will continue to support the characters with upcoming Omega items, as well as any bug fixes and tuning they may need.
Additionally, the following costumes will be removed under the new licensing agreement.

While it’s entirely possible this new licensing agreement is just between Marvel and Gazillion, it has many online wondering what this will mean for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite . As of right now, the roster for the upcoming fighting game doesn’t include any characters from X-Men , Fantastic Four or Spider-Man . These are all franchises that Marvel has agreements with other companies over.
Does this move by Marvel Heroes mean there’s no chance we’ll see these characters in Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite? It’s entirely possible. However, we do know Marvel is planning on updating Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite for years after release, so there’s a chance new deals could be worked out.
So what do you think? Are you bummed to see Fantastic Four characters getting removed from Marvel Heroes? Do you think there could be any more removals in the future? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
