If you thought that the Marvel Universe was all about aliens and advanced technology, then prepare to face its darker side. The Earth's last line of defense against supernatural forces, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, is coming in March 2022.
Before we take a closer look at what the darkness has to offer, take the time to watch the kick-ass trailer below:
The story starts with Hydra managing to revive the Mother of Demons known as Lilith. Now that she’s out of her slumber, she plans to complete an ancient prophecy and call forth her evil master Chthon.
With their backs against the wall, the Avengers are left with no choice but to ask help from Nico Minoru, Blade, Magik, and Ghost Rider, also known as the Midnight Suns. With powers rooted in the supernatural, these heroes and the Avengers try to prevent the prophecy from being fulfilled.
As the last line of defense, they resurrected an ancient warrior simply called the Hunter. She’s more than meets the eye because, in addition to being the forsaken child of Lilith, the Hunter is the only hero who has managed to defeat this evil.
Talking about this upcoming game, Vice President of Creative at Marvel Games Bill Rosemann shared in a statement that Midnight Suns is set to offer players the chance to experience an all-new and original story, one that dives deep into the shadows. Firaxis Games Creative Director for Marvel’s Midnight Suns Jake Solomon revealed that as someone who grew up with Marvel comics, it was an honor to be chosen to work on this game.
2K President David Ismailer also shared his thoughts saying that while the Midnight Suns is an ambitious title, it is more than likely to deliver an experience that is both unique and groundbreaking.
Finally, Marvel Games Executive Vice President Jay Ong said that they have always been about offering fresh and original takes on the Marvel IP. He went on to say that he is excited for the fans to try it out.
While the trailer is indeed good, there’s the possibility that the gameplay may be entirely different. Those questions are to be answered on September 1 with 2K and Firaxis showcasing the gameplay. The reveal is going to be at 2:30 p.m. ET and fans can watch it here.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is launching on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
