Developer 4A Games just announced the second expansion for Metro: Exodus. The announcement was made on Twitter and the game's official website. The second expansion pack, known as Sam’s Story, will release on February 11. This is only a few days before the game’s release on Steam, after being exclusive to Epic Game Store for one year.
Sam’s Story is about the journey of a US Marine named Sam, who dreams of going back to his homeland in the hope of finding his family. The majority of the DLC is set in Vladivostok, which is filled with “tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts”. The second DLC will be a sandbox-survival semi-open world experience similar to the base game. This is different from the previous expansion, The Two Colonels, which was a linear and claustrophobic experience similar to the first two Metro games in the franchise. Sam’s Story will offer new weapons, enemy types, and a brand new area to explore.
Here is the official description of the DLC:
“Sam has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore.
Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.”
The official pricing of the expansion is not known at the moment, but we can expect it to be around $20 because the Metro Exodus Season Pass is $25 and The Two Colonels is $8. Metro Exodus will also launch on Steam in mid-February as the one year exclusive deal with Epic Game Store finally ends.
