It’s no secret that Microsoft doesn’t exactly have many hit exclusive games under its belt. However, you can add one more game to the small list. Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) is officially a success. This announcement comes via an official Microsoft Blog post.
Flight Simulator has been able to attract ‘one million unique players’. That’s not all, it is also the biggest game launch for PC via the Xbox Game Pass. Looks like the extremely high system requirements weren’t enough to stop PC players from lifting off.
“Thanks to the incredible support of our community of fans, pilots, flight enthusiasts, and virtual travelers, we have had more than one million unique players take to the skies," the post reads. "Additionally, Microsoft Flight Simulator was the biggest game launch in Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) history.” Microsoft further thanked the fans for playing the game. “On behalf of the entire team, we’d like to express our gratitude to all the fans who have begun to explore the world and the magic of flight with us.”
One million players also mean a lot of flights. The company further claimed that over 26 million flights were made and the total distance covered was more than 1 billion miles (that’s 1.6 billion KM for the rest of the world). That’s more than the distance between the Sun and Saturn. Trust me, I checked.
“It’s been wonderful to see the reactions to Microsoft Flight Simulator from the community, who have flown more than 26 million flights and logged more than 1 billion miles flown to date – the equivalent of flying around the world over 40 thousand times. Talk about racking up those frequent flyer miles,” the blog claimed.
Microsoft Flight Simulator has received a positive reception from fans, however, some technical aspects of the game have been criticized. The developers are trying to address these issues with updates and patches. The very first update of the game was released recently.
