During Nintendo Direct's Mini presentation earlier today, Capcom announced a new Monster Hunter game called Monster Hunter Rise, which is headed to Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
The announcement was accompanied by a trailer where Capcom showed off the monsters that players will hunt, including Aknosom, Great Izuchi, Magnamalo, and Tetranadon. Capcom also revealed additional details on the game after Nintendo's presentation. Capcom explained the reason behind the choice of the name "Rise," stating that it was inspired due to a new wall climb ability that players can use to reach new heights. Players will also have a magical grappling hook that is powered by a small companion creature called a Wirebug.
Players will also have a rideable dog companion, called a Palamute. These companion dogs can run without taking any hit on their stamina. However, what's interesting is that they can also assist you on your hunts. When playing the single-player mode, players will have an option to take two buddies, but in multiplayer players can take combinations of Palamute and Palico.
There's also a deluxe edition of Monster Hunter Rise which offers some extra bonuses including a layered armor set and new emotes. Pre-ordering the game will also give your three bonus rewards: a golden retriever costume for your Palamute, a forest cat costume for your Palico, and “a novice talisman for some extra assistance in the early stages.”
Rumors and leaks regarding a new Monster Hunter game appeared on Reddit, suggesting that the game will be more open than other Monster Hunter titles. The leak has since been confirmed as Monster Hunter Rise's developer has stated that the game will feature a much more open and seamless locale in comparison to zones that typically involve loading.
