Over the past few weeks, a rumored Batman Arkham game has been teased extensively, but we are all still waiting for an official announcement. However, looking at the leaks and rumors, we assume that the next Arkham game could be more important to the franchise that we might have first imagined.
According to Geeks Worldwide, the next Batman Arkham game is believed to be a soft reboot of the Arkham series. But what sounds most interesting is that the new game will be set in a cohesive DC universe. Apparently, this new setting will help Rocksteady follow up with a new DC game and a rumored next-gen Superman game.
The report also states that Rocksteady has been consistently working to get a new Superman game off the ground to let the fans across the world to join in the adventures of the Man of Steel himself.
Apart from the teased Batman game sharing a DC Universe, everything else including the story, setting, and the nature of the game itself remains undisclosed. Previous leaks and rumors have suggested that the next project from WB Montreal will feature a "playable Batfamily" and a co-op mode. Yet, WB Montreal has consistently teased the upcoming Batman game to feature the Court of Owls.
In November 2019, Twitter user @New_WabiSabi stated that the next Batman game would be called "Batman Arkham Legacy" featuring a "playable Batfamily" as mentioned earlier.
Although most of these leaks sound good to the ears, it is always best to take them with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made. If the information is true, I am most happy for Rocksteady in its endeavors to explore new uncharted territories. Although I love the Batman Arkham games, I would also love to fly across the sky like the Man of Steel himself!
