The latest issue of Shonen Jump Next announced that a brand new Naruto manga novel will be released later this year.
According to Anime News Network , the novel will focus on three protagonists — Guy, Kakashi and Mirai, the daughter of Asuma and Kurenai. The story will also take place at a hot spring, an interesting location for the novel.
The issue of Shonen Jump Next also clarified that the new Naruto novel takes place between the final chapter of the Naruto manga and the mini-series, Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring.
Sho Hinata, credited with illustrating the Naruto - Konoha Hiden: Shūgen Biyori novel, will also be illustrating this story, which has yet to be given a release date.
The new Naruto novel gives fans a chance, hopefully, to see more of Mirai Sarutobi and what she can actually do. She’s appeared in small parts in the novels and mini-series after the Naruto manga finished but her skills are still unknown.
There have been quite a few Naruto manga novels already released. The first was the Kakashi novel followed by Shikamaru, Gaara, Sakura, the Akatsuki organization and other ninja in Konoha.
Viz Media has released the Kakashi, Shikamaru and Gaara novels in English with the Sakura novel coming in May.
There are also the Shinden series of Naruto novels that tell backstories of popular characters. There were two Itachi Shinden novels that tell the story of Itachi’s youth and his journey to joining the Akatsuki. Sasuke also had a Shinden novel that was released in Japan in 2015.
