The Siege of the Atlas expansion is coming to Path of Exile this February. It's available for free on February 4 for PC players and February 9 for console players. This expansion is going to introduce new endgame systems and new pinnacle enemies.
Players can also look forward to taking on a challenge league. There are also new unique items and rewards, new story quests in the end game, and of course, game balancing improvements.
For those interested, a live reveal of the upcoming expansion is happening on January 27.
Delay
This expansion was initially scheduled to be released in the third week of January. The reason for this delay was the decision from the higher-ups to give their staff some time off to celebrate New Zealand’s summer holidays. That way, everyone comes back fully recharged for the year.
It was in the first week of January when the team revealed that their end-of-year holiday break was done. The team said that they were excited to continue with the development of the expansion and even Path of Exile 2.
The Scourge
The new expansion arrives in the game courtesy of Update 3.17. It means that the Scourge Challenge League is going to end. This is the answer to players who have been asking if Scourge will become a core Path of Exile mechanic.
In a post by the development team, it seems that the answer is "NO." Once it ends. there are no plans of bringing it back, at least for now. The team did say that there could be a chance for it to return sometime in the future.
Scourge was first released back in October 2021 with players needing to fill the Blood Crucible with the blood of their enemies. They then shift into an alternate Wraeclast where an apocalyptic event rages and must slay powerful demons and craft potent items.
Going back to the matter at hand, for those who have unfinished challenges in the league, there are still some weeks left to finish them before saying goodbye.
Excited yet about what the upcoming expansion has to offer?
Path of Exile is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
