Nintendo has just announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which is an enhanced version of the 2013 real-time strategy game release for the Wii U. Launching for the Nintendo Switch, Pikmin 3 Deluxe includes all-new missions, new co-op play modes, and all previously released DLCs for the Wii U version. Pikmin 3 Deluxe will launch on October 30 for $59.99.
In a press release, Nintendo of America Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Nick Chavez said that “Pikmin 3 Deluxe brings this classic franchise to life on Nintendo Switch, introducing a new audience to its beloved characters and gameplay, while also welcoming back returning players with new challenges. . . With Pikmin 3 Deluxe, the Nintendo Switch library of software continues to grow with a variety of games for everyone to discover and enjoy.”
For those who aren’t familiar with the Pikmin series, Pikmin 3 is the third installment in the action-adventure strategy franchise. Players take control of a captain who commands hordes of plant-like creatures called Pikmin. Players can lead up to 100 of these Pikmin and assign them different tasks such as fighting enemies, destroying obstacles, finding food, and building structures. Pikmin are classified by their color, which signify their strengths and ideal usage: red Pikmin are immune to fire and are more suitable for combat, yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity, blue Pikmin are immune to water, grey-colored Pikmin can destroy tough obstacles and are immune to being squashed by heavy objects, and the pink-colored winged Pikmin can attack flying enemies, carry items through the air, and travel over water.
Pikmin 3 includes game modes such as the main Story Mode, Mission Mode, and the two-player Bingo Battle. As for Pikmin 3 Deluxe, new features for the Nintendo Switch include a two player co-op mode for the campaign, and brand new prologue and epilogue stories which star the heroes from the game’s previous installments, Olimar and Louie from Pikmin and Pikmin 2, respectively. Other new features include quality of life improvements such as balance changes and an enhanced targeting system.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will launch for the Nintendo Switch on October 30.
