Pokémon GO is launching a new event that sees the debut of a legendary Pokémon. Dubbed as the "Luminous Legends Y" event, it starts May 18 and lasts for two weeks. Trainers can expect Yveltal and more Dark-type Pokémon to appear more often in the wild.
The event, however, is not without its problems because Team GO Rocket has learned about Yveltal and is planning to turn more Pokémon to Shadow-type. There are also reports coming that the Grunts have new battle strategies, so be prepared.
Week One
The first week of the event begins May 18 and lasts until May 24. During this period, everyone gets the 3× Catch XP bonus. Other details are:
- Yveltal makes its official debut but in five-star raids.
- Yveltal is a Dark-type and Flying-type Pokémon first discovered in the Kalos region.
- Pancham will hatch from Strange Eggs.
- The other Pokémon hatching from Strange Eggs rescued from Team GO Rocket during the event are:
- Qwilfish
- Larvitar
- Absol
- Skorupi
- Sandile
- Scraggy
- Pawniard
- Vullaby
- Deino
- Dark-type Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild.
- Keep your eyes out for the likes of Houndour, Carvanha, and more.
- For those who missed the Pokémon that appeared during Luminous Legends X, there’s good news since many of them are making a return. Keep watch for Spritzee, Swirlix, and Goomy in the wild.
- Complete Team GO Rocket–themed Timed Research before the event ends to encounter Dark-type Pokémon like Galarian Zigzagoon.

- Alolan Meowth
- Alolan Grimer
- Sneasel
- Poochyena
- Stunky
- Purrloin
- Dark-type Pokémon like Alolan Meowth and Yveltal appear in raids.
- Event-exclusive Field Research tasks lead to encounters with Dark-type Pokémon, including Galarian Zigzagoon and Scraggy.
- Event-exclusive AR Mapping tasks lead to encounters with Galarian Zigzagoon.
- Trainers can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
Week Two
The second week of the event starts May 25 and runs through May 31. Here, players can expect:
- Sylveon makes its official debut.
- Evolve Eevee into Sylveon by getting hearts.
- Eevee, Ralts, Spritzee, Swirlix, and others appear more often in the wild, alongside some Dark-type Pokémon featured in Part 1 of the event.
- The Pokémon hatching from 7-km Eggs are:
- Eevee
- Cleffa
- Igglybuff
- Togepi
- Azurill
- Spritzee
- Swirlix
- Some of Eevee’s Evolutions appear in three-star raids. Keep an eye out for Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, and Umbreon.
- Event-exclusive Field Research tasks lead to encounters with Eevee, some of Eevee’s Evolutions, and more.
- Event-exclusive AR Mapping tasks reward Poffins.
- Sylveon-inspired avatar items are available in the shop.
