Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is all set to release on March 6 for the Nintendo Switch. The game has players take a journey back to the classic Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games. These include Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team as well as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team.
What makes this game a unique offering is that it's set in a world that is populated solely by Pokémon. Yes, you read that right. The game starts by having players take a personality test. After that, players then wake up inside the body of a pocket monster. Players can choose the Pokémon they want to be, or, for those feeling lucky, can just leave it to chance and be one based on their answers.
In the game, players help Pokémon out of trouble in different mystery dungeons. Throughout the journey players meet Pokémon that join their team. Making the game more exciting and challenging is that the layout of the mystery dungeon changes each time it is entered.
Similar to other Pokémon games, Pokémon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX also battle each other. In the game, players can learn as many as four moves which can be used to attack, heal, or some other effect. It's not just about moves as battles also mean items. Gravelerocks, for example, can be used to attack enemies from a distance. Then there's the Blast Seeds that allow Pokémon to deal big damage once the seeds are eaten.
Encounters are also present in the game and there are at least 400 Pokémon to meet. There's also a Pokémon Square where players get to meet Pokémon with personalities of their own. It's also possible to meet other rescue teams in the game.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX also gave a sneak preview of some early game missions. The first comes from a Dugtrio whose son Diglett has been taken by Skarmory. Then there's also Shiftry, who went on a mission to help Jumpluff’s friend but hasn't returned.
A demo version of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is available and can be downloaded here. In addition to being able to play the game early, any saved data from the demo versions can be moved to the full version once officially released.
