The new Pokémon Ride in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is Mantine, which allows trainers to travel between the islands of Alola while also doing neat tricks to earn Battle Points.
Trainers can then use these Battle Points to teach their Pokémon attacks they normally wouldn’t at the Move Tutor.
Veteran Pokémon trainers know that the Move Tutor can be a great tool to giving their Pokémon certain moves to give them better coverage against opponents as well as create new strategies.
But first, trainers will need to learn how to Mantine Surf to earn Battle Points.
HOW TO MANTINE RIDE
Lesson 1 - Picking up Speed
Mantine will move forward on its own, ride up the face fo the wave and when you reach the lip, slide the circle pad to the left to surf back down and pick up speed , once you’re back down in the trough of the wave, slide the circle pad to the right to climb the face again. Keep riding up and down the wave to pick up more and more speed.
Lesson 2 - Getting Airborne
When you reach the highest point of the wave, or the lip, slide the circle pad to the right and you can launch into the air. The faster Mantine is traveling the the higher you’ll get off of the wave.
The height of the wave affects your score for some moves, so choose the best wave to leap off.
Lesson 3 - Aerial Moves
While in the air, move the circle pad in any direction to spin and twist. You’ll add more points to your score if you do. You can chain together several spins during the same aerial,
A sparkling ring appears around Mantine at the end of a trick, if you start another spin before it disappears, you’ll earn a higher score.
Lesson 4 - Landing
When in the air, Mantine will slowly lose elevation and fall back down toward the water surface. If Mantine is still spinning when it hits the water, it will sink. Time your spins right and stop before hitting the water.
When you see an island at the end, you know your ride will end. Keep pulling off moves until the end.
MOVE TUTORS
If you earn enough Battle Points using Mantine Ride or at the Battle Tree, Battle Royale Dome or the Battle Factory, you can exchange them to teach your Pokémon new moves.
Here’s a list of the Move Tutor locations and what attacks can be learned along with the price.
