Proton 6.3 release candidate is now available for download. Read further to find out the new games it supports.
What is Proton?
For those who do not know, Proton is a compatibility layer for Steam that allows you to play Windows games on Linux. It is also going to be used on the Steam Deck, Valve’s upcoming portable gaming device.
Anyway, the first release candidate for Proton 6.3 is ready for you to try. This version fixes many issues present in the experimental branch. But keep in mind that there may still be some bugs left. If you’re going to try this, be sure to report any issues you may encounter to the developers so they can have them fixed in time before the final release.
That being said, it adds support for a lot of games, including those using the BattlEye anti-cheat system. It also supports DX11 and DX12 games using Nvidia DLSS technology.

This is definitely great news if you prefer Linux OS to play games, especially Ubuntu. It is quite interesting that this version of Proton supports DEATHLOOP, which is touted by many as one of the best games of 2021.
If you want to test the release candidate, open the Steam client and search for Proton 6.3. Right-click on it and select Properties then Betas. Choose “proton-6.3-8-rc” from the drop-down menu and let the update process commence.
