The wait is almost over as the first PUBG Continental Series event of 2022 is almost here. The PUBG Continental Series 6 Americas Open Qualifiers start tomorrow. The entire event is divided into four stages which are the Open Qualifier, Regional Playoff, Last Chance Qualifier, and the Grand Final.
Starting with the Open Qualifier, it's going to be held separately for each sub-region of NA and LATAM. Each region allows for a maximum of 160 teams to participate. Depending on how many teams register, the Open Qualifier is going to have three rounds with each round lasting two days with six matches each day. This stage runs until March 16.
Regional Playoffs
After Round 3, the top eight teams of each sub-region move forward to their respective Regional Playoffs. They're joined by 16 teams that have been invited based on their performance during the ESL PUBG Masters Americas 2022 Phase 1. For the Regional Playoffs, teams are ranked on a cumulative SUPER Point Rule leaderboard. The prize pool for this stage is $25,000 with the top team getting $4,000. The dates for the Regional Playoffs are:
- Match Day 1 (March 18)
- Group A vs. Group B
- Match Day 2 (March 19)
- Group B vs. Group C
- Match Day 3 (March 20)
- Group C vs. Group A
The top six teams from each Regional Playoff leaderboard move forward to the PUBG Continental Series 6 Americas Grand Final. The next best eight teams (7th to 14th place) from each region come together and compete in the Last Chance Qualifier. Finally, the bottom 10 from each region are eliminated.
Last Chance Qualifier
The Last Chance Qualifier lasts for two days of six matches each and sends the top four teams based on the SUPER Point Rule scoring system to the Grand Final. There's also a total prize pool of $20,000. Dates for Last Chance Qualifier are:
- Match Day 1 (March 26)
- Match Day 2 (March 27)
Grand Final
The Grand Final offers a prize pool of $250,000. The final details of this stage will be released at a later date.
It should be worth noting that while getting a monetary prize is a good motivation, teams need to work hard for the PGC Qualification Points. Collecting these points and being at the top of the PGC Points Leaderboard is the only way for a team to qualify for PGC 2022 in November.
