Since it was introduced, PUBG Labs has always been about offering new experiences, such as the Motor Glider and the Thermal Scope. Besides new items, there are game modes too, like the Zone Tag.
The latest is no different. So what’s up at the Labs? It's Futsal Mode. For those not familiar, Futsal is a modified form of football (or soccer) where five players on each team play on a smaller field. In PUBG, it’s still football but with a splash of combat. Players who get the most goals transform into Premier League player Son Heung-Min. PUBG actually has a collaboration with this superstar and you can read more about it here.
Two Zones
Futsal mode offers two zones. The first is the Play Zone, which is also the Buff Zone where weapons are created and spawns. Players who enter the zone immediately consume the buff. Here are the details of this zone:
- Buff Area spawn intervals: 30 seconds.
- Buff types
- Gain 50 HP.
- 1.2x movement speed increase for 15 seconds.
- Weapon types
- Frying Pan
- Sickle
- Machete
- Crowbar
- Sawed-Off + 12 Gauge x2
- Spawns at a lower rate but once equipped can surely knock down those pesky opponents.
The other is the Penalty Zone, which actually plays an important role in this mode. It serves as the respawn area and spawn area of the Shield that can be used to protect the goal. Details are:
- Respawns
- After death, players respawn in the Penalty Zone and are invincible for three seconds.
- Players cannot move out of the zone until the invincibility has worn off.
- The Shield
- When a player equipped with the Shield moves out of the Penalty Zone, the Shield disappears and a new Shield spawns in the same zone.
Match Rules
Now that you have an idea of what the field is, here are the basic rules of the match:
- Victory Conditions
- The team to score more goals by the end of the match is the winner.
- Tied Score
- In the event of a tie, the match enters overtime.
- If scores remain tied after overtime, the winner is decided by most kills or the team with the MVP.
- Format
- Matches are played in two five-minute halves
- Three minutes of overtime is played automatically if the score is tied after regular time.
- Matches have five seconds of preparation time prior to kick-off
