Remnant: From the Ashes has been out for a few weeks now, and the general consensus for what is Gunfire Games’ most ambitious title to date has been mostly positive; in my own review for the game, I praised its excellent and incredibly engaging gunplay in addition to how well it weaves its many mechanics to form a third-person co-op shooter with high replay value.
That said, it was not without its flaws, and for the most part Remnant suffers from repetitive dungeons as well as some missteps with regards to its difficulty curve. However, what players cannot fault is Gunfire Games’ continued support for their title, as the developer along with publisher Perfect World Entertainment have announced an upcoming new game mode and dungeon for Remnant: From the Ashes.
This content drop is sure to give its players something new to look forward to, especially seeing as the first of these updates adds a new game mode called Adventure Mode. This mode brings a new level of exploration to Remnant by eliminating a major design oversight; basically, this allows players to re-roll any of the three worlds – Ruined Earth, Rhom and Yaesha – without having to play the campaign all over again. This mode is great for players who want to reexplore their favorite biomes without needing to reset their entire adventure, with the rewards they take from Adventure Mode staying with them all throughout the rest of their character and playthrough. Adventure Mode releases this September 12.
The next update will be on September 19, and this one goes out to those who want more variation in terms of areas, story, and a whole new boss fight. Leto’s Lab will see players exploring through Research Station Alpha, where they find new challenges and puzzles along with the ever-present intense combat. Research Station Alpha dynamically spawns in Ruined Earth, and this dungeon is expected to shed more light on Remnant’s backstory in terms of the World Stones, or those enigmatic red crystals that act as checkpoints and places of brief reprieve.
Remnant: From the Ashes is now available to play on PC, Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4. Check out my review for Remnant here, as well as boss guides for beating Claviger here, Singe here, and The Unclean One here.
