Today is a good day for Resident Evil fans. The critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 is officially getting the remake treatment. The remake was announced during yesterday’s State of Play via trailer.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
The trailer didn’t reveal any gameplay footage. However, some crucial information was mentioned. The remake will arrive on March 24, 2023, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Sadly, past-gen consoles won’t be able to run the remake. So, if you are an owner of those, it’s time to upgrade.
Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Content
It seems like Resident Evil 4 Remake wants to go above and beyond the original game. It was hinted that some kind of content for PS VR2 will also be available. We don’t exactly know what it is, but when VR is involved, anything's possible. For that, we are gonna have to wait a while.
Resident Evil Village VR Version
Speaking of all the VR talks, RE4 Remake VR content is not all PlayStation fans are getting. During the same event, Capcom also announced that a VR version of RE Village is being developed for PlayStation VR 2. You will be able to play the entire game, just like RE7 Biohazard, in VR. While the release date isn’t mentioned, the above trailer did show some tidbits of gameplay footage.
No information about the planned DLC for RE Village was mentioned, showing Capcom is still very tight-lipped about it.
Other Possible Remakes
Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed remakes of any other RE game other than Resident Evil 4 Remake, even though tons of titles could deserve the same treatment. I, for one, will love a modern-day remake of Resident Evil 1, 0, and Code Veronica.
It was already weird that RE1 wasn’t remade before RE2, given that it’s the first game in the franchise. Maybe the RE4 Remake will be the last remake by Capcom? I guess time will tell.
In other news, the next-gen versions of RE7, 2 Remake, and 3 Remake are currently in development and should launch this year.
So what do you think? Are you excited about Resident Evil 4 Remake? Or do you care more about RE Village with PSVR2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
