Resident Evil 7's free Not A Hero DLC has been delayed. This information comes from a video the development team released on the official Resident Evil YouTube channel.
The reason for the delay, according to the developers, is the DLC isn't ready yet. After getting such a positive reception on Resident Evil 7, the developers decided to hold back on Not A Hero until it could live up to what fans are expecting. "Our aim for this content is to match the high quality of the main game," Producer Masachika Kawata said in the video. "So we'll need more development time in order to achieve that goal."
The good news is that Not A Hero is still confirmed to be a free update. The bad news is that with the delay, there's no new release date or window. While the DLC was originally scheduled for spring 2017, this DLC is likey slipping to the summer or even fall of this year. Although it's not confirmed, I doubt Capcom would hold back the DLC all the way until next year.
The Not A Hero DLC will introduce fan-favorite Chris Redfield into the world of Resident Evil 7. Early reports have claimed this DLC will be a continuation of Ethan's story from the main campaign, so it's possible Ethan will be teaming up with Redfield to "chase" something, according to Twitter.
Resident Evil 7 is now available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
