The new Into the Dark DLC for The Riftbreaker is now available. It introduces a new branch to the game's story campaign which takes place in the underground Crystal Caverns biome. This new branch, along with the other new pieces of content, is unlocked as players progress through the game.
Those who have already finished the main campaign can continue the adventure on where they left off. That's because the additional part of the story is immediately unlocked, letting them explore this new part of the world.
Other features of this paid DLC are:
- Players can establish their own unique subterranean outpost by excavating soft limestone rock and shaping the environment to suit their needs.
- The Campaign Mode technology tree is expanded by researching unique technologies that can only be acquired in this biome.
- Collect information on new creatures, vegetation, and other curiosities found only in this underground environment.
- Repel attacks from massive tunnel-digging beasts using new weapons and technology.
- Adapt base-building methods to make the most of the terrain-shaping abilities and novel power-generation mechanics.
- Discover previously unknown details from Ashley's past.
Free Update
The new DLC arrives along with the free World Expansion II update, which introduces these features:
- Crystal Caverns biome. An underground network of caves and caverns for everyone to explore.
- A new Survival Mode scenario is taking place in the new biome.
- An entirely new cavern-digging mechanic. Use Mr. Riggs' drilling arm or explosives to clear out the space needed for expansion.
- Multiple new species of creatures the likes of which have never been seen before. Fight hordes of fearsome monsters lurking around every corner.
- More than 70 new research items and technologies to further enhance the base and Mr. Riggs' abilities.
- Use drones to collect resources and valuable loot.
- Expand your energy grid using the Energy Relay Stations.
- New weapons and defensive towers.
- Build powerful weapons that obliterate anyone threatening the base.
- Slice through enemies with Bouncing Blades.
- Send a devastating barrage of energy projectiles with the Laser Gatling Tower.
The Riftbreaker: Into the Dark is priced at $9.99 and available on PC through Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Windows Store. No date has been revealed yet on the DLC's release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
