Prepare to be blasted back to the 80s for Rocket League’s Radical Summer event!
This exciting in-game event will start on June 10, and lasts until August 12. The event brings along a wave of free items, Premium Licensed DLCs, limited-time game modes, and many more nostalgia-feueled surprises to look forward to.
Radical Summer will have a total of three celebrations for the 80s spirit, which are Blockbusters, Culture, and Television. Each celebration will run for three weeks. Just like with the past events, you have to play Online Matches in order to earn ‘cassettes’ that you will then be able to redeem to get your own 80s-themed items all throughout summer. The Event Store of Radical Summer will get major makeovers to suit every celebration, which of course, brings new items for your Battle-Car. When the event ends, you will be given a week to redeem cassettes for the items that you missed.
Psyonix definitely did a good job by teaming up with some of the biggest franchises of the 80s. You can see a list of the franchises you shouldn’t miss at the Radical Summer below:
- Ghostbusters
- Knight Rider

Golden Eggs are making a comeback for the Radical Summer. This time around, the Golden Eggs contain items like Elevation, Victory, Turbo, and Nitro Crates. You can get a total of five Golden Eggs during each celebration.
Psyonix made sure that the Radical Summer starts and ends with a bang by announcing that two new Premium Licensed DLCs, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 herse and and K.I.T.T. Knight Rider Car Packs are coming at the start and at the end of the event, separately.
Just in time to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Ghostbusters, you can now go on a ghost hunting adventure with the Ecto-1. It will come packed with fan-favorite items from the movie, including the Ecto-1 Battle-Car, Ecto-1 Wheels, Proton Pack Rocket Boost, Slimer Topper, Ghostbusters Player Banner and Avatar Border, and the Stay Puft Goal Explosion. In the honor of the Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 Battle-Car, a ghost hunt mode is on its way. This mode will show up at the Blockbusters celebration of the Radical Summer. It is a 3v3 mode wherein the opposing teams will use a proton stream power-up to trap each other’s ghostly ball in the Containment Zone. This mode will feature spooky lighting and horrific sound effects at the Urban Central Arena. It will be available on July 1.
As for Radical Summer’s Culture celebration, Spike Rush Mode will make its grand entry. Spike Rush is a 3v3 mode wherein every player has a Spike power-up from the classic Rumble Mode, which can be used to carry the ball and even pull off tricks on your opponents. It will be held on the Throwback Stadium Arena that will commemorate the fourth anniversary of Rocket League.
Nearing the end of Radical Summer, Beach Ball mode will be arriving at the Salty Shores. This 2v2 mode has a larger, low gravity ball with an activated curveball mutator.
