Saints Row can add one more game in its franchise, well not exactly. Saints Row: The Third is getting a remaster treatment along with all of its DLC and expansion packs. The remaster will launch on May 22 and will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The updated version is being developed by Sperasoft, whereas the original 2011 release was developed by Volition. An announcement trailer was also released which shows off the visual differences between the original and the remaster. You can watch the trailer below.
The remastered version is not just a small lighting change and slapping a remaster tag on it. Sperasoft Studios has put some actual effort into this. Saints Row 3 will have retextured environments, better graphics, improved character models, and a brand new lighting system. However, the audio in the game has not been touched. This means every sound in the game (like radio, music and dialogue) will be the same as the original. This is definitely going to make some fans really nostalgic.
“Every weapon has been remodeled, every car has been redesigned and a vast proportion of the city has been retextured; Saints Row: The Third has received a full makeover. With around 4,000 assets reworked, the complete update has been expertly handled by Sperasoft.” The official description of the remastered says. “It has transformed environments, character models and visual effects, enhanced graphics and incorporated a new lighting engine.”
As mentioned above, every DLC expansion will be added in the remastered version, which means that you can enjoy over 30 add-ons of Saints Row: The Third with the remaster treatment for only $39.99.
That’s not all, a brand new Saints Row game (probably Saints Row 5) is currently in development at Volition. However, not much information is available for the new game. The remaster is the perfect game to play while you wait for the sequel.
