New model numbers have surfaced for the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. In late March, tech blog SamMobile revealed the Galaxy Note 6 codename “Grace” and several model numbers for U.S. carriers. A leak via the Chinese social media website Weibo reveals a series of new model numbers for the upcoming smartphone, including a model number for a European version.
If accurate, this could indicate that certain European markets will get the Galaxy Note 6, even though f its predecessor was not available. In 2015, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was not sold in many European markets, the U.K. in particular. Instead, U.K. carriers and retailers sold the Galaxy S6 Edge+ while Galaxy Note fans lamented. Rumors suggested the Galaxy Note 5 would release in the U.K at some point, but this never came to fruition.
Samsung’s reasoning was that it offered the Galaxy Note 5 in more business and productivity driven markets and the Galaxy S6 Edge + in more youthful and fashion-forward markets. But consumers were so upset at the lack of availability that U.K carriers even petitioned Samsung to reconsider not introducing the Galaxy Note 5.
Now that Samsung has already released the Galaxy S7 Edge as a 5.5-inch phablet, it is not certain whether the manufacturer will release a Galaxy S7 Edge+. Rumors about a plus device circulated prior to the launch of the Galaxy S7 but have not picked up since the hit the market.
Recent rumors suggest the Galaxy Note 6 could feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chip , which is also yet to be announced. Other prospective features include water resistance, an iris scanner and a USB Type-C port, among others.
