Samsung’s official unveiling of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge won’t be until Feb. 21; however, the manufacturer appears to have let the cat, or the Galaxy S7 Edge, out of the bag early. Feature details for the smartphone were discovered by Dutch tech blog Galaxy Club Tuesday.
The blog found a Samsung developer's website , which features information about the updates to edge screen features for various curved display smartphones, including the Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S7, in accordance with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. the page, which currently still live, details new edge features, including one called “Edge Single Plus” screen, which is a wide screen, which shows things like Samsung’s Smart Manager, sports and stocks.
In contrast, the standard “Edge Single” screen has already been seen on devices like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. It is only 160px in width and works in a text scroll function. The new and wider “Edge Single Plus” would allow users to see more at one time.
While this new feature cannot yet be proven outright without official word from Samsung, the evidence in its favor are damning. The developer’s page essentially confirms that there is a Galaxy S7 Edge and that it will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Recently, there have been several image leaks of devices believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge; however, there has been no overt branding associated with these leaks. It is customary for a great deal of details about Samsung devices to leak before an official announcement.
