Fans of the Adult Swim series Samurai Jack now have a chance to take on the role of their favorite samurai warrior trapped in time. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time has been released worldwide. The game is priced at $39.99 and is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Making it even more exciting is the fact that developer Soleil Games made this in partnership with Adult Swim Games and series creator Genndy Tartakovsky.
Battle Through Time is also available for mobile devices, but is exclusive for iPhones. However, players need to sign in to Apple Arcade, Apple’s game subscription service. There are 30-day free trials for those who haven't signed up yet, with a $4.99 fee per month after. Apple Arcade subscribers gets the full version of Battle Through Time, with none of the ads or additional in-game purchases.
The game is based on the Emmy Award-winning series of the same name. The series premiered back in 2001 and had some interesting breakthroughs. Its first episode, for example, had nine minutes of silence, something that was unheard of (pun intended) when it came to animation. Then there was also the animation style, with character designs that had no black outlines. The series lasted for four seasons until 2004, but didn’t have any resolution to the story.
This would later be tied-up neatly in a fifth season, released in 2017. If you’re one of those that followed the series to the end, then you’ll surely love this 3D action platformer.
The game tells the story of Samurai Jack’s untold final adventure. After being trapped by Aku in an alternate timeline, Samurai Jack now needs to fight against many of his well-known enemies. Ultimately, he needs to take down Aku, and with it, save the future. The story of the game integrates well with the series finale.
Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time offers classic combat and gameplay combined with stylized visuals. It also has the drama and humor that the series is known for. Get to explore the fantastic world only seen previously in the show while unlocking new skills and combos with dozens of melee and ranged weapons available to take down enemies.
