‘Scandal’ Season 6 Cast And Crew Share Details From First Table Read

The ball is finally rolling for Scandal Season 6, as Kerry Washington and other stars shared several photos and statuses from the first table reading for the upcoming season on Monday.

Washington (Olivia Pope) first shared a photo of her place at the Scandal Season 6 reading table, with the caption “We back b*tches,” followed by several photos of herself and other cast members. She also shared social media statuses from several members of the Scandal cast and crew, all of whom seem happy to be working on the next chapter of the political drama.

Reports in May indicated the premiere of Season 6 would be postponed until January due to Washington’s pregnancy. The actress said at the time she was taking some time off, but appears to be anxious to get back to work.

Season 6 of Scandal is expected to follow Mellie Grant and Jake Ballard’s Republican bid for the Oval Office against Francisco Vargas and Cyrus Beane. Season 5 took inspiration from headlines, with Mellie Grant as a woman running for president. Texas lobbyist Hollis Doyle was also campaigning for president as a character inspired by Donald Trump . However, he ultimately dropped out of the race after accidentally revealing he was appealing to citizens who were ignorant about politics.

It is possible viewers will see Season 6 pan out similarly to the current presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Joshua Malina (David Rosen) shared a status including a photo of him and Kerry Washington fake kissing before the Season 6 table read.

Bellamy Young (Mellie Grant) sent out a tweet following the tablet read, teasing an “unbelievable” Season 6 is in store for fans.

Other Scandal staff, including showrunner Shonda Rhimes, also shared photos and comments about the beginning of production for the new season.
