On Scandal Season 6, episode 5, which airs at 9 p.m. EST Thursday on ABC, Olivia is clashing with Jake’s wife Vanessa. Jake and Olivia were close during the presidential campaign and continue to work together as efforts to get Mellie into the White House continue. Vanessa is concerned that Olivia and Jake may be sleeping together, but she does not know that they have had several affairs in the past.
An episode 5 sneak peek shows Vanessa accusing Jake of sleeping with Olivia and Jake is shocked at the accusation. Viewers don’t know whether Jake and Olivia have been sleeping together at this time. The last time they were together was before he married Vanessa. They are talking about running away together before his wedding. However, Eli Pope, Olivia’s father and the former head B613, told her if she tried to take Jake away from his being a vice presidential candidate that he would kill him, so Olivia let him go.
We also know that Jake was not fully on board with being apart of the presidential race. Right before Mellie announced her presidential nomination Jake suggested he and Olivia should leave the high drama Washington DC life behind and go live a normal suburban life where he could be a gym teacher. Olivia told Jake that she “does not do mediocre” and that he shouldn’t either, pushing him to continue with the presidential race.
An episode promo show Vanessa and Olivia arguing about Jake and the situation gets a bit physical after Vanessa calls Olivia a whore.
Is something going on between Olivia and Jake? We will find out in the upcoming Season 6 episode 5, called “They All Bow Down,” which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live.
