The Sims 4 revealed that it’s working on an update that going to make changes to the existing skin tone options. The game is also going to make improvements as well to hairstyles. The update is going to be released on October 6 for the PC and November 10 for consoles.
In terms of the hairstyles, there’s going to be an update to two of the base game hairstyles. This should make representation a bit better. Going back to the skin tones, the first change is going to be on improving the blotchy artifacts and ashy appearance of darker skin tones, particularly on mid and high spec machines.
In a blog post, the team working on the update shared that the October update is going to “be visible only to those running the game with the “Uncompressed Sim Textures” graphics settings turned on. Since this isn’t a default setting, players need to turn it on. To activate this setting, follow these instructions:
- Go to Options
- Choose Game Options
- Select Graphics Tab
- Select Graphics Section
- Check “Uncompressed Sim Textures”
The team also gave out a reminder that if the machine the player is using has a lower graphics setting, running this feature could result in a crash. To be sure that the feature runs correctly, graphics cards should be rated at least medium and have a minimum of 2 GB of VRAM.
That’s not all that’s coming to The Sims 4, though. There’s also going to be a big update that’s rolling out in December. It’s going to include the release of at least a hundred new skin tone swatches. These include cool, neutral, and warm tones with a special focus on darker skin tones. Aside from these new additions, a new slider is also going to be introduced. This should allow players to modify the selected tone to either lighter or darker.
With all the changes coming to the skin tones, makeup options in the Create-A-Sim mode are also going to have new sliders added. This should give everyone a new level of customization options
There’s no question that the upcoming updates are going to be interesting. It will be interesting to see all the new Sims creations that players make with the added tools. What about you? Are you excited about these new changes? Let us know in the comments section below.
