Snapchat just dropped a massive update dubbed “Chat 2.0” that beefs up the photo-based social media app’s features to epic proportions. Including everything from video chat to gifs to stickers, new friend emoji and more. If Snapchat wasn’t already your go-to chatting application, today will change all that. How To Get Snapchat 2016 ‘Chat 2.0’ Update
If you haven’t seen the update become available yet on your iPhone or Android smartphone, don’t worry. The Chat 2.0 update is slowly rolling out users around the globe. You can check if the new features have made it to your device a couple of different ways
- Check the app store for latest Snapchat updates
- Open Snapchat app, swipe right on a friend’s name and see if new phone, video and sticker icons appear as chat options.
If neither appears, the update simply isn’t available to you yet, but it will be coming soon, so keep checking in!
What Features Does Snapchat’s 2016 “Chat 2.0” Update Include?
- Audio Video Calls – Snapchat 2.0 now includes the option to make Skype-like video or audio calls.
- How to do it – swipe right on a friend’s name. Choose either the video camera button for a video call or the phone icon for an audio call
- Pro Tip – you can minimize a friend’s video call to a tiny bubble on the screen by swiping down on it!
- Video “Gif” and Audio Notes – you can now send short snippets of video or audio for your friends to enjoy
- How to do it – swipe right on a friend’s name. Press and hold either the video camera button for a video note or the phone icon for an audio note. When you are finished recording, let go of the button.
- Stickers – over 200 stickers were added to help you express how you feel during video, audio or text chats.
- How to do it - swipe right on a friend’s name. Tap the smiley face button and select your sticker
- ProTip – type in a word like “love” or “angry” in the chat line and related stickers will surface!
- Send Multiple Photos (Even During Video Chat) – you can now tap on the picture icon inside your friend chat and send as many of them at once as you’d like. If you send a photo during a video call, they will show up as a translucent overlay on the chat window.
