Sony Interactive Entertainment has just unveiled brand-new details regarding upcoming PlayStation 5 accessories. An update on the accessories website for the next-gen console shows the detailed information for all the add-ons, both old and new, that will come along with it.
First off is the all new DualSense wireless controller, which now offers “immersive haptic feedback, dynamic adaptive triggers, and a built-in microphone”. It also includes a highly improved integrated speaker, and retains the DualShock 4’s built-in battery and motion sensor. Starting off with its new features, the haptic feedback replaces the DualShock’s traditional rumble motors. This feedback system produces a finer and more accurate feeling than that of the DualShock, such as differentiating the sensations between driving on a rocky road or getting hit by a blast of wind.
As for the adaptive triggers, it now introduces “varying levels of force and tension” which in turn provides more immersion. Pressing down on the triggers now requires either more or less pressure, or counteracts with tense or smooth presses. This would be most noticeable in certain situations such as firing a gun, drifting on tough corners, or pulling an especially taut bowstring. Other included features are the built-in microphone and headset jack, now with a dedicated mute button, and the Create button that seamlessly captures and shares the player’s most captivating moments while playing.
A new headset has also been introduced which is named the Pulse 3D wireless headset, which is “specifically tuned to deliver the 3D audio made possible by the PlayStation 5 console." Two hidden microphones and easy access controls can also be found on the Pulse 3D. Finally, two miscellaneous accessories are the media remote and a new HD camera for the PlayStation 5. The HD camera will feature dual lenses for 1080p capture and comes with its own background removal tools for those who are content creators on the specific platform. It has features such as broadcasting in PiP mode and the addition of a green screen.
The PlayStation 5 is set to launch this coming Holiday season, but no specific date has been confirmed as of right now.
