Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the latest game by Respawn Entertainment, was slated for release later this year but the developer announced that the release date has been pushed back. The game will now launch on April 28, instead of the previous date, March 15.
The developer claimed that the game is content ready, though they require more time to polish the title to perfection. Fans of the Star Wars games are no doubt disappointed that they will have to wait even longer for this highly anticipated game. However, a refined product is always better than a rushed one, so the delay might actually be a good thing.
About the Game
Star Wars Jedi : Survivor is being developed by Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the popular Titanfall series and Apex Legends. The game takes place between the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and follows a young Padawan who survived the Jedi Purge and is on the run from the Empire.
The game promises to deliver an immersive Star Wars experience with players taking on the role of the protagonist, Cal Kestis, as he learns the ways of the Force and battles against the Empire. Just like in the first game, players can expect a mix of action and puzzle-solving. They will also be able to wield a lightsaber and use the Force to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies.
The delay also makes sense from a business perspective as there are a lot of AAA games launching in the next couple of months. Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, and Resident Evil 4 Remake could have taken away attention from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. More time between these titles will give Survivor some breathing room.
Platform and System Requirements
The anticipated sequel will only release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. The older-gen consoles are left behind for superior visual fidelity, which we are all for. The developer has revealed the official PC system requirements as well and they are higher than most expected, with the game requiring 130 GB of free storage space.
